The Haymarket Opera Company makes its debut with this exciting production of a rarely heard masterpiece of George Frideric Handel. This delightful pastoral serenade for three singers and orchestra tells one of Ovid's tales from Metamorphoses. In the story, both the shepherd Acis and the giant Polyphemus love Galatea, a sea nymph. When Galatea chooses Acis as her lover, Polyphemus becomes enraged and smashes him with a rock.
