Steve STRONGMAN wins Guitarist Of The Year  2nd year in a row at the Maple Blues Awards !

New acoustic CD to be released in April 2012!

Steve Strongman’s highly anticipated Acoustic CD “A Natural Fact” due for release, May 5 at the Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place.  Produced by Rob Szabo, the CD features solo pieces, as well as acoustic band tracks featuring Maple Blues Award winner Alec Fraser on bass, Dave King on drums, and Jesse O’Brien on piano.
Multiple Maple blues award winner and Juno nominee Suzie Vinnick makes an appearance on a duet with Strongman also.

2011 was an incredible year for Strongman. He has won a Maple Blues Award for Guitarist of the Year, a highly prestigious National honor, and most recently -
on the heels of highly successful summer tours of France and Switzerland - Strongman has just signed a European record deal with German based label Peppercake Records.

Steve Strongman's astounding guitar playing and expressive songwriting combined with his entertaining showmanship, have firmly established him as one of Canada’s best new Blues artists. The 2009 recipient of the prestigious Mel Brown Blues award, 2008 Maple Blues awards nominee for “Guitarist of the year”, 2007 Maple Blues Awards “Best New Artist” nominee, received standing ovations opening for the legendary Buddy Guy on his Canadian tour dates.
ellent harp playing added in for good measure. “Blues in Colour” was recorded in a century old barn, out

Steve Strongman Blues In Colour Self  Even after a well-received debut CD, Honey, the hard work continues. With a particularly effective showcase at the Blues Summit behind him, Steve Strongman keeps the ball rolling with a sparkling new CD. With release parties in home base Hamilton and here next month, the momentum should keep growing. He certainly has the songs and the performances here to make that happen. It’s basically a trio session, with multiple-award winning Alec Fraser on bass and producer Dave King on drums. Strongman overdubs some fine harp, especially on the rocking opener, “Mean To Me’. The only cover is up next, a solid take on Freddie King’s “Woman Across The River”, with the trio handling the changes superbly. “That’s What She Does” would have hit single written all over it if hit radio played these things.  With a catchy melody delivered in his distinctive, plaintive voice, it’ll be in your head for days. The jaunty “Can’t Back Down” switches gears to acoustic with Strongman on slide and King on brushes. Another winner. “Take My Arms” is a long, slow blues and it doesn’t disappoint, with perfect guitar accompaniments to the vocal and a stunning solo. Electric slide dominates “Can’t Stop But I’m Tryin’”, a song about vices (with Paul Intson on bass). “Heart” is a lovely acoustic ballad. “Lie To You” is another rocker with electric slide with a catchy chorus. “Plain Hard Truth”, with its unison vocal and guitar lines, is another slow blues that except for the chorus is so downhome it would not sound out of place on an R.L. Burnside album. A very good lyric too. The disc concludes with Strongman on his National saying, passionately, “Just Sorry”.

Available shows: Steve Strongman (solo acoustic), The Steve Strongman Band, Guitar Explosion with Paul Deslauriers and as a special guest with house band.

Steve Strongman's New CD Is Garnering Great Reviews and Airplay Throughout North America

A Natural Fact: Steve Strongman's New CD Is Garnering Great Reviews and Airplay Throughout North America
Since it's release in early May, the new acoustic CD A Natural Fact from bluesman Steve Strongman has been getting regular airplay and admirable reviews from critics in Canada and USA.
Here's what people are saying about A Natural Fact:
"A Natural Fact is the sweetest, most enjoyable disc of acoustic blues I’ve heard in a very long time- maybe even ever. A joyous blues album- is such a thing even possible? Yes it is."
- John Kereiff, Gonzo Magazine
www.gonzoonline.ca
"With A Natural Fact, Steve Strongman is well on the way to becoming my new favourite Canadian bluesman and definitely a hidden treasure everyone should discover, like many people including Buddy Guy, Joe Cocker and Randy Bachman already have."
- Richard Amery, L.A. Beat Editor
www.labeat.ca
"Whether he’s alone or backed by a full band, Strongman is fully in command, and A Natural Fact is, quite simply, as good as it gets."
- John Taylor, Blinded By Sound
www.blindedbysound.com
"Now, being an excellent guitar player is worthy enough in the blues, but that's just one part of Strongman's make-up. He's a strong songwriter, who comes up with numbers that sound as if they are already established classics."
- Bob Mersereau, CBC Frederiction, Author Top 100 Canadian Singles
www.top100canadianblog.blogspot.ca
"A Natural Fact gets my highest rating of 5 stars, but some how I wished I could of ever given it more. Highly Recommended and Thoroughly Enjoyed."
- John Vermilyea, Blues Underground Network."

There are reasons why Canadian blues artist Steve Strongman was the 2011 Maple Blues Award winner for Guitar Player of the Year. There are reasons why Steve Strongman consistently packs venues across Canada for his performances. There are reasons why he was chosen as one of Hamilton, Ontario’s "Top 40 Achievers Under 40 Years Old" by the area’s major newspaper. There are reasons why in the last three years Strongman has performed at major blues festivals in Rio de Janeiro, France, Switzerland, Mexico City, Memphis and Canada, including two appearances at the famed Montreal International Jazz Festival, four appearances at the Tremblant International Blues Festival, and the Ottawa Blues Festival.
Charisma. Verve. Passion. Unbridled talent.
Beyond Strongman’s talent as a songwriter, guitarist and front man is his ability to engage his audience and deliver an outstanding performance at every live show. With his inimitable guitar playing and soulful vocals, Strongman delivers incredible performances with power and passion.
Beginning his professional music career at the age of 16, Strongman has spent over 20 years touring Canada, Europe and, more recently, South America. Along the way he’s been chosen to open shows and perform with Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, Randy Bachman, Roy Clark, Otis Clay, Jeff Healey, Sonny Landreth, and British legend, Joe Cocker, to name a few. A Maple Blues Award winner, he was the 2009 recipient of the prestigious Mel Brown Blues Award, as well as the 2010 Hamilton Music Award winner for Blues Recording of the Year for his second studio release, Blues in Colour.
Now Strongman is set to release his highly anticipated acoustic CD A Natural Fact, featuring solo acoustic material, with Alec Fraser on standup bass, Dave King on drums, Jesse O'Brien on piano, and a duet with blues and roots music sweetheart Suzie Vinnick.
"I've always had a love for acoustic based music, especially blues. I'm really proud of this CD and I look forward to showing people a different artistic side." Strongman says.
Steve Strongman has a way of stirring a crowd that evokes the emotion, maturity and authenticity of classic blues themes. His music speaks for truth and passion, and offers hope for the soul in the face of hard times in a way that that leaves audiences hungry for more.
