Blues Deluxe - Eilidh Mckellar with Joe Bonamassa and Bernie Marsden

In the UK where the reverence for American blues artists runs deep and has brought forth legendary guitar heroes Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton, the endless grey skies of Edinburgh, Scotland are most definitely not immune to this musical iconography. Eilidh McKellar, a 19-year-old Scottish born singer and guitarist offers an interesting blend of indie rock, blues, and pop music with a nod towards the New World. Not only can Eilidh play with heartfelt emotion on the guitar, her voice comes from deep in the Mississippi River delta- where alligators lie in wait and Southern Comfort allays the sins of the soul. Eilidh started playing the guitar when she was 9 years old. With no other musicians in the family everything Eilidh has achieved has been the result of her own hard work and endearing devotion to her local guitar shop. In time she became a much beloved local fixture there testing out every available guitar on its walls. Meanwhile at home Eilidh listened to her dad’s Rolling Stones albums fostering an early love of the blues. “I loved the sound of those records, very raw and loose as if everyone was comfortable in their skin- I was feeling that.” Her interest in the blues expanded when she watched a television documentary and it led Eilidh to discover artists such as Robert Johnson, B.B. King, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix. Guitar lessons, both electric and classical, continued through her high school years. Together with Eilidh’s experience as part of the Edinburgh School Rock Ensemble for 5 years, allowed her to develop her guitar abilities and overall musicianship. In 2011 Eilidh began uploading performance videos to YouTube, initially to raise her profile and to help with music college applications, which landed her at the Leeds College of Music. The video response was very positive and Eilidh has now clocked up a nearly one million views overall. She also began performing on the local Edinburgh blues scene. This provided Eilidh with opportunities to jam with established musicians such as Oli Brown and James Burton. The highlight of her nascent career was performing at the Hammersmith Apollo with legendary blues/rock guitarist, Joe Bonamassa. Joe had seen Eilidh on YouTube and asked her to join him on stage-- a huge honor and she delivered great solos much to his and the audiences delight. Eilidh’s YouTube videos then caught the attention of American manager and producer, Guy Eckstine, who immediately offered his services for creative direction and career guidance. “As soon as I got wind of her and watched her videos, I reached out through social media. Ian Stewart - Junior Wells - Keith Richards - Ronnie Wood

Ian Andrew Robert Stewart (18 July 1938 – 12 December 1985) was a Scottish keyboardist, co-founder of The Rolling Stones and inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was dismissed from the line-up in May 1963 but he remained as road manager and pianist. Born at Kirklatch Farm, Pittenweem, East Neuk, Fife, Scotland, and raised in Sutton, Surrey, Stewart (often called Stu) started playing piano when he was six. He took up the banjo and played with amateur groups on both instruments. Stewart, who loved rhythm & blues, boogie-woogie, blues and big-band jazz, was first to respond to Brian Jones's advertisement in Jazz News of 2 May 1962 seeking musicians to form a rhythm & blues group. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards joined in June, and the group, with Dick Taylor on bass and Mick Avory on drums, played their first gig under the name The Rollin' Stones at the Marquee Club on 12 July 1962. Richards described meeting Stewart thus: "He used to play boogie-woogie piano in jazz clubs, apart from his regular job. He blew my head off too, when he started to play. I never heard a white piano player play like that before." By January 1963, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts had joined, replacing a series of bassists and drummers. Stewart had a job at Imperial Chemical Industries. None of the other band members had a telephone; Stewart said, "[My] desk at ICI was the headquarters of the Stones organisation. My number was advertised in Jazz News and I handled the Stones' bookings at work." He also bought a van to transport the group and their equipment to their gigs. In early May 1963, the band's manager, Andrew Loog Oldham, said Stewart should no longer be onstage, that six members were too many for a popular group and that the older, burly, and square-jawed Stewart did not fit the image.[8] He said Stewart could stay as road manager and play piano on recordings. Stewart accepted this demotion. Richards said: "[Stu] might have realized that in the way it was going to have to be marketed, he would be out of sync, but that he could still be a vital part. I'd probably have said, 'Well, fuck you', but he said 'OK, I'll just drive you around.' That takes a big heart, but Stu had one of the largest hearts around." Stewart loaded gear into his van, drove the group to gigs, replaced guitar strings and set up Watts' drums the way he himself would play them. "I never ever swore at him," Watts says, with rueful amazement. He also played piano and occasionally organ on most of the band's albums in the first decades, as well as providing criticism. Shortly after Stewart's death Mick Jagger said: "Stu was the one guy we tried to please. We wanted his approval when we were writing or rehearsing a song. We'd want him to like it." Stewart contributed piano, organ, marimbas and/or percussion to all Rolling Stones albums released between 1964 and 1986, except for Beggars Banquet. Stewart was not the only keyboard player who worked extensively with the band: Jack Nitzsche, Nicky Hopkins, Billy Preston, and Ian McLagan all supplemented his work. Stewart played piano on numbers of his choosing throughout tours in 1969, 1975–76, 1978 and 1981–82. Stewart favoured blues and country rockers, and remained dedicated to boogie-woogie and early rhythm & blues. He refused to play in minor keys, saying: "When I'm on stage with the Stones and a minor chord comes along, I lift my hands in protest. Stewart contributed to Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" from Led Zeppelin IV and "Boogie with Stu" from Physical Graffiti, two numbers in traditional rock and roll vein, both featuring his boogie-woogie style. Another was Howlin' Wolf's 1971 The London Howlin' Wolf Sessions album, featuring Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Klaus Voorman, Steve Winwood, and Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts. He also played piano and organ on the 1982 Bad to the Bone album of George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Moreover, he performed with Ronnie Lane in a televised concert. In 1981 Stewart and Charlie Watts contributed to the song "Bad Penny Blues", which appeared on the album, These Kind of Blues by The Blues Band. Stewart also played with Rocket 88. Stewart contributed to The Rolling Stones' 1983 Undercover, and was present during the 1985 recording for Dirty Work (released in 1986). In early December 1985, Stewart began having respiratory problems. Well, it all started back in year zero with a band called Delta and a lot of smoke, later there was talk of world domination and of course enlightenment. We decided that if it was in fact noise and playing with other people's heads in smoky rooms that was to be the way... then that's just the way it had to be...The only reason we do it is because it gets us high playing all this Frock, Flazz & Blues music. Then the smoke filled rooms became fewer and other people's heads became screwier, so we decided that smearing love across the masses was now to be the way... Fuelled by the psychedelic, enslaved by our imaginations we set out on a voyage of discovery, pitted against the apathy of our lovely hometown we ventured forth to show them all that getting high is just a state of mind, and feeling down is just another... So we exalted in the spirit and made music to help realise the way, we danced cavorted and otherwise comingled to call upon the spirits of our ancestors to help us through these dark times... Life really is for loving... Sandi Thom Premieres Flesh And Blood: The Controversial New Video

Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sandi Thom, best known for her 2006 No.1 hit single I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair), is pleased to confirm the September 17th release of her fourth studio album Flesh and Blood.  Produced by the Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson, and featuring a rare duet with Buffy Sainte-Marie, the album was recorded at 16 Tons studio, Nashville, Tennessee, making it Sandi’s fourth album following 2010’s critically acclaimed Merchants and Thieves.

Flesh and Blood is a significant release, being Sandi’s sophomore studio album, released solely by her independent label Guardian Angels Records (distributed in the UK by Nova through Universal Music Operations).
The highly anticipated new album radiates the raunchy blues rock bravado of the opening track Help Me, followed by the country-flavoured Leadbelly classic In The Pines. The album also features the strutting, clavinet-led Stormy Weather; and the emotionally compelling finale Lay Your Burden Down.
The album features an all-star ensemble led by Black Crowes Rich Robinson, drummer Steve Gorman and fellow Black Crowe and widely travelled session guitarist Audley Freed, respected Nashville stars Mike Webb (keys/Dobro) and James Haggerty (bass) complete the line-up with special guest performances from Rolling Stones collaborator, saxophonist Bobby Keys, and stunning duet with the legendary singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie on her 1992 classic The Big Ones Get Away.

To celebrate the “Flesh And Blood” release, on Thursday September 20th, Sandi will perform an intimate concert at London’s Gibson Guitar Studios (29-35 Rathbone St, W1T 1NJ).

Legendary classic rock producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Joe Bonamassa) also mixed two tracks, Sun Comes Crashing Down and a duet with Buffy Sainte-Marie on the latter’s classic song, The Big Ones Get Away.
“Sandi’s writing is fantastic,” says Shirley, “and her singing is wonderful. Sun Comes Crashing Down has all the right ingredients to be a hit.”
The intriguingly titled I Love You Like A Lunatic, is based on her “life-changing” love affair with superstar blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. The couple have been together three years now, living and loving on and off the road. Sandi likens it to a modern-day Johnny Cash and June Carter fairy-tale. “My life just turned crazy,” says Sandi. “Yet that’s what everybody wants, that insane kind of love that utterly consumes you.”
Sandi feels that Flesh and Blood is her coming of age album. “All I ever want to do is write songs that connect with people,” says Sandi. “With this album I’ve finally found a place where I can make the very best music I can achieve. The people that only know me from Punk Rocker won’t recognise me on this album. But they are going to find out another side of me.”

Old Love - King King ft. Alan Nimmo

“Softly softly” is not a maxim that King King are familiar with. Since surging into life less than twelve months ago they have barely stopped for breath, and their electrifying sound and scorching live shows have generated more of a thunderous roar than a buzz. .... This band certainly knows how to make an entrance. Fronted by charismatic bluesman Alan Nimmo, their exhilarating debut at last year’s Monaghan Blues Festival created such a stir that it prompted organizer Somhairle MacConghail to state: “King King aren’t just playing the festival. Word is that King King ARE the festival”. With a reception like this there’s little surprise that the phone has been ringing off the hook ever since, and after a frenetic winter tour the lads are currently gearing up for a hectic summer of gigs and festival appearances. .... With outstanding reviews and a diary fit to burst, you’d be forgiven for thinking that King King had enough to keep them occupied for a moment or two. You’d be wrong. Apparently imbued with sufficient energy to power a small town, the band has also found time to get into the studio, the result being their debut EP ‘Broken Heal’. Produced alongside the team behind the Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and the Editors (to name but a few), the EP instantly received a gleaming review from Blues Matters Magazine, including remarks on it’s “emotive lyrics”, “heart wrenching guitar solos” and “stirring guitar work”. The band had barely left the studio when they began to receive airplay on radio stations in the UK, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, India, Canada and the USA. Meanwhile, organizers of the renowned Blues On The Farm festival laid their hands on a copy and were so impressed that they made room for King King - despite having already filled the bill for this year’s event. .... Thundering on, the summer will see King King descending on the celebrated Maryport Blues Festival, where they will follow Jethro Tull onto the main stage at an event which will attract some 22,000 blues aficionados. Then it’s off to headline at the Shetland Blues Festival, squeezing in some European appearances (including another headline slot at the Hookrock Festival) along the way. .... Pretty impressive stuff for a band less than a year old. So what’s at the root of all this commotion? Well, aside from seemingly boundless impetus, the band is certainly not lacking in pedigree. .... Leading the charge is the aforementioned Alan, a front man famed almost as much for his contagious energy as his dazzling guitar work. Widely known across the UK and Europe for his pivotal role with the award-winning Nimmo Brothers, Alan’s full-blooded style, technical brilliance and impassioned vocals combine to hit all the right buttons and reach spots that many others can only aspire to. .... Bringing up the rear we have Lindsay Coulson. Don’t be fooled by the wry smile – beneath his unruffled exterior lurks a powerhouse of punchy, fat bass who’s musical career has seen him take to the stage with such well regarded blues acts as Aynsley Lister. He has also been a regular in the Nimmo Brother’s lineup, and this history with Alan has resulted in a dynamic musical chemistry which is evident in both songwriting and performance. .... New to the King King fold is Bennett Holland on keyboard. An excitable advocate of funky low-down blues, Bennett has worked with a plethora of names including Groove Armada and the critically adored Richard Hawley. A compelling and highly skilled player, rumor has it that there are no arms beneath Bennett’s sleeves – only more fingers. .... Running with the King King ethos that more is always more when it comes to talent, this summer’s audiences will also be treated to a special guest in the form of Craig Blundell, recently described by Drummer magazine as “one of the UK's most versatile and staggeringly talented players”. A hugely gifted and resourceful musician, Craig is also clearly a dynamo at juggling – aside from live performances, the last year has seen him in constant demand for worldwide drumming clinics, recording sessions, instructional books and even a documentary. .... Due to the outstanding success of the first "Rewind Scotland – The 80s Festival" in Perth during July 2011, the festival returns for the second year in a row. As with last year’s unforgettable concert performances and audience participation celebrations, this year’s Rewind Scotland boasts another massive live outdoor line-up of the crème de la crème of 80s recording artists/performers.

Rewind Scotland will take place from Friday 20th July until Sunday 22nd July at Scone Palace, Perthshire, Scotland (www.scone-palace.co.uk).

This year’s line-up is headlined by Big Country and Holly Johnson. Adam Ant & The Good, The Mad & The Lovely Posse are confirmed as very special guests. As in 2011, the organisers have announced that Rewind Scotland will once again take place at the historic setting of Scone Palace in Perthshire – the home of The Earls of Mansfield and the crowning palace of the Kings of Scotland.

The festival takes place on the weekend of the 20th-22nd July and, as well as the massive line-up of 80s artists, features loads of other festival fun from Silent Discos to Live Karaoke bars along with Camping and Glamping (Glamorous Camping) options.

Originally launched at Henley-on-Thames in 2009, Rewind The 80s Festival boasts the biggest line-up of 80s artists in the world, and in its first three years has featured such iconic 80s names as: Boy George, Tony Hadley, Rick Astley, Gloria Gaynor, Kim Wilde, ABC, Go West, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw and many more.

2011 saw the first Rewind Festival take place north of the border and take Scotland by storm, and the festival in Henley-on-Thames sell out in advance for the very first time.

Average White Band AWB are regarded as one of the top funk and soul bands in the history of music. Best known for their timeless instrumental mega-hit "Pick up the Pieces" they’ve had a career full of several gold selling albums and Grammy nominations. "Cut the Cake" and the 1980 UK top 20 hit "Let’s Go Round Again" attracted wider audiences to their ‘authentic’ R&B sound. The current band line-up continues to record and tour around the world, to on-going critical and audience acclaim. Big Country Internationally-renowned Scottish rockers Big Country will be making their Rewind Festival debut, headlining on 21st July in Perth this year, adding to another six major UK/Irish festival dates the band perform at this summer. Formed in Dunfermline, Fife in 1981, they enjoyed huge success in the 80s thanks to their unique brand of rock music and such massive hits as “In a Big Country” "Chance" and “Fields of Fire (400 Miles)” taken from their multi-platinum album 'The Crossing" produced by the legendary Steve Lillywhite. Sadly band founder member Stuart Adamson passed away in 2001. The band reformed in 2011 with a new line-up fronted by The Alarm’s Mike Peters and original members Bruce Watson, Tony Butler, Mark Brzezicki and Bruce’s son Jamie Watson. "The band are looking forward to this summer’s festivals, celebrating our 30th anniversary and recording new material" said Tony Butler. In recent months they have been in the studio with Steve Lillywhite once again, Youth and Bill Nelson working on a new album for release in 2013. Jimmy Somerville Glaswegian Jimmy Somerville first shot to fame back in 1984 with groundbreaking band Bronski Beat. Their debut single "Smalltown Boy" introduced the world to Jimmy’s unusual "falsetto squeal" (his own words), making the top three in Britain as well as being a huge hit all over Europe. Having had several lively pop dance hits in ’84 and ’85 with the band, Jimmy left for a rest after the pressures of new found fame took its toll. Within months he was back forming the Communards with his old friend Richard Coles and enjoyed a string of hits with their mixture of good old fashioned "gay" disco and more bluesy, acoustic, political and social comment songs, including a hedonistic cover version of the Philly soul classic "Don't Leave Me This Way". Five Star Dubbed "Britain’s answer to the Jackson Five" with their dynamic sound and fabulous dance routines, Five Star rocked the British and US pop charts in the 80s. Named and managed by their father Buster Pearson, the band scored a total of 16 top 40 singles, 6 of which went top ten, and achieved a multi-platinum selling UK no.1 album in 1986 with "Silk & Steel". A formidable live act in the 80s, they sold out 6 nights at Wembley Arena to an audience of more than 60,000 in their 1987 UK tour. The five siblings make their Rewind Festival debut in 2012, celebrating their 25th anniversary in the music industry. Chesney Hawkes After shooting to fame as the title character in the film "‘Buddy’s Song" in 1990, Chesney Hawkes quickly became one of Britain’s best-loved stars. The following year, he released the single "The One and Only" (penned by Nik Kershaw) from the film’s soundtrack which went on to become the 20th biggest selling single of the 90s. Chesney has never been far from the spotlight since, with numerous TV appearances and new material, finding a whole new generation of fans who want to see him perform live. Go West Celebrating 25 years together and as one of the greatest singer-songwriter duos to emerge in the eighties they had their first hit "We Close Our Eyes" in 1985, the first of many including "Tracks of My Tears", "Call Me" and the opening song to the hugely successful film "Pretty Woman", "King of Wishful Thinking". Fantastic performers with a huge repertoire of hits, Go West are a real treat live. Right Said Fred Brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass are as recognisable now as they were back in 1992 when Right Said Fred became the first UK band since the Beatles to reach No.1 in the US with a debut single. That single – "I’m Too Sexy" – hit No.1 in thirty two countries and garnered an Ivor Novello Award before further hits like "Deeply Dippy" (another Ivor Novello) and "Stand Up For The Champions" contributed to the band’s overall haul of twenty million records worldwide. Midge Ure One of Britain’s most prolific and well-respected songwriters, co-organiser of the Live Aid concerts and former member of such iconic groups as Visage and Thin Lizzy; Midge Ure is a man of many talents. True musical royalty, he received an OBE back in 2005 for services to music and charity. Midge achieved huge success in the 80s with the synthpop band Ultravox, with worldwide hits such as "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" and "Vienna", going on to have a successful solo career too. Having performed a reunion tour with Ultravox back in 2010, this summer he plays solo bringing his extraordinary back catalogue to Rewind. Limahl One might think of Limahl in the same bracket as Boy George, Phil Oakey or Margaret Thatcher as having one of the defining bouffants of the era! But, the original duo tone spiky mullet man was oh, so much more than his legendary hair and the wave of sometimes dodgy imitation haircuts he inspired; Kajagoogoo, the band he fronted, so much more than their crazy name and angular posturings. Music mattered with a million selling debut album "White Feathers" and five chart hits over two years: - "Too Shy"(no 1) – "Ooh To Be Ahh" (no 7) – "Hang On Now" (no 13) – "Only For Love" (no 16) and "The Neverending Story" (no 4). Sinitta American born Sinitta is a professional actress / singer who has lived in the United Kingdom for most of her career. Best known for her singing she began recording in 1983 and has had 14 international hit singles including "So Macho", "Toy Boy", "Cross My Broken Heart" and her cover of "Right Back Where We Started From". More recently, Sinitta has appeared as a mentor on the ITV Talent Show "The X Factor", discovering new artists such as Leona Lewis, Olly Murs and JLS and has also made appearances as a contestant on both "Dancing on Ice" and "I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" Les McKeown's Legendary Bay City Rollers When Les McKeown became lead singer of the Bay City Rollers just days after his 18th birthday, the addition of his voice and personality transformed the band from potential one hit wonders into an international super group, notching up nine UK top ten hits including two number ones. Their first two albums, "Rollin’’ and "Once Upon A Star", stayed on the album charts for a total of 99 weeks and "‘Bye Bye Baby", the Rollers’ first No. 1 single, was the UK's biggest selling single of 1975. Between 1974 and 1978 the Bay City Rollers achieved no 1s in pop charts across the world with such songs as "Saturday Night" and "I Only Want To Be With You". Mass hysteria seemed to follow their every move; the screams of a generation of young girls could be heard across the nation and in every corner of the globe – the world had truly turned tartan! Katrina (Ex-Katrina & The Waves) The former lead singer of Katrina & The Waves, Katrina became an international pop star in the 80s with the massive hit "Walking on Sunshine", which has remained a timeless summer anthem ever since. Following this success, the band received a Grammy nomination for "Best New Artist". After a period of downtime the band surged back into the limelight in 1997, when Katrina & The Waves represented Great Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest with "Love Shine a Light" and went on to win!

Holly Johnson One of the most recognisable and powerful voices from the eighties, we’re excited to announce that Holly Johnson will be making his Rewind Festival debut this year. As lead singer and lyricist of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, he enjoyed phenomenal commercial success during the 1980s with hits including "Two Tribes", "The Power of Love" and their controversial debut "Relax". After Holly and the band split, he went on to have an equally successful solo career, with platinum selling album Blast reaching the top of the charts in 1989. Village People Recipients of a Star on the Hollywood walk of fame between Liberace and Betty Grable, Village People will be performing for you at this year’s festival. Well known for their on-stage costumes depicting American cultural stereotypes, how many can you name? Village People have sold upwards of 100 million records worldwide with their disco and dance hits, including their trademark "Macho Man", "Go West", "In the Navy", "Can't Stop the Music", and their biggest hit, "Y.M.C.A.", with its cult dance. For almost 2 years Adam and the Ants dominated the charts with their singles and subsequent albums, especially “Kings of the Wild Frontier” which charted for 66 consecutive weeks, 12 of which were at the number 1 position. Hits such as “Prince Charming”, “Ant Rap”, “Friend or Foe”, “Goody Two Shoes” and Ivor Novello winning “Stand & Deliver” left an indelible punk shaped mark on the music industry, and now with his new band The Good, The Mad and The Lovely Posse, Adam Ant brings his iconic sound and look to Rewind this summer as our very special guest Roland Gift At one time picked by People Magazine as one of their 50 most beautiful people, Roland Gift came to attention with the release of the first Fine Young Cannibals album. His high, soaring voice was immediately recognizable, his style being both on classic soul singers and modern techniques that provided him with an edge. It was with the second FYC album four years later, however, that the band began to break internationally, with "She Drives Me Crazy" being heard everywhere. Lightning Seeds Lightning Seeds were formed by Ian Broudie in 1989, after having been involved with numerous bands in post-punk Liverpool, including Big in Japan and Holly Johnson, he decided to go it alone. Lightning Seeds have been entertaining audiences for over 20 years, and it’s easy to see why when witnessing their unmissable live performance. Ian Broudie conceived the band and penned the majority of the critically acclaimed debut album Cloudcuckooland, featuring the hit single Pure. The band’s 1994 album, Jollification, saw the Lightning Seeds garner the attention they rightly deserved, spawning the hit singles Lucky You, Change, Perfect and Marvellous. In 2006 they released of The Very Best of the Lightning Seeds and in 2010 the band returned to the live arena with a full UK tour and studio album. Marc Almond With over thirty years in music, the iconic Marc Almond, a huge influence to a generation of musicians who came after him, has sold over 30 million records worldwide and remains one of Britain’s most unique and interesting pop stars. He first rose to fame in 1980 after forming Soft Cell, recording four albums and enjoying several Top 10 hits including the international classic and BRIT Award winning "Tainted Love". After Soft Cell went their separate ways in 1984, Marc went on to have a diverse and acclaimed solo career, continuing to tour and record new music to this day. The Straits Formed by former members of Dire Straits Alan Clark, Phil Palmer and Chris White, due to the substantial demand to hear the band’s much loved catalogue of great songs, The Straits includes three original members along with some of the top session players to form a great new combo. Terence Reis was handpicked as the front man for The Straits for his voice with elements of Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale and Steve Earle and his guitar technique that’s remarkably similar to Knopfler’s own. Listen out for such rock classics as "Sultans of Swing", "Money for Nothing" and "Brothers in Arms". ABC Fronted by the dapper Martin Fry, their debut album The Lexicon of Love crashed straight into the charts at number one, showcasing a string of hits including "The Look of Love", "Tears Are Not Enough" and "Poison Arrow". After five further albums and a greatest hits, ABC bowed out of the spotlight in the early nineties, only to resurrect the name at the end of the decade much to the delight of their fans. Whether performing as a band or with an orchestra in the Albert Hall, Martin Fry is the consummate show man. Wang Chung Wang Chung came out of the post-punk, New Wave scene in the UK going on to achieve global success selling millions of records. Throughout their 30 year career they have released 5 albums and 2 Greatest Hits compilations. They have had 6 US Top 40 hits including a number 1 and international Top 40 hit, "Dance Hall Days", achieved cult status with their soundtrack for William Friedkin’s movie "To Live and Die in LA". In the process of all of this (and somewhat unintentionally), Wang Chung became part of the contemporary culture of North America. Their huge smash "Everybody Have Fun Tonight", with its now famous line "Everybody Wang Chung Tonight"' saw the invention of a new US verb; 'to Wang Chung', the band being name-checked by everyone from Homer Simpson to Frasier Crane. Altered Images Clare Grogan started her 30 year long career as a schoolgirl popstar in her band Altered Images; by day studying for her A Levels and at night touring and playing festivals alongside Siouxsie and The Banshees, Echo and The Bunnymen and U2 and recording sessions for John Peel. Clare never got to finish her exams as the band were signed to Epic Records in 1981, the same year she appeared in the BAFTA winning film Gregory’s Girl. Altered Images quickly had worldwide success, selling millions of records which topped the charts in several countries, including "I Could Be Happy", "Don’t Talk To Me About Love" and "Happy Birthday". After an eighteen-year gap in performing with Altered Images, in 2002 Clare was persuaded to sing their hits again and continues to play in front of huge and enthusiastic crowds. The Christians Described by The Sun as "arguably the best voice in pop" Garry Christian is both "the face" and "the voice" of THE CHRISTIANS .. another Liverpool success story emerging in the late 80s - renowned for their endless string of soul-inspired hits .. "Forgotten Town", "Born Again", "When the Fingers Point", "Ideal World", "The Bottle", "Father", "Perfect Moment", "What’s in a Word", "Harvest for the World", to name but a few .. often forgotten until you hear the songs and remember how much you loved them! THE CHRISTIANS are celebrating 25 years since the release of their iconic eponymous album this year with a re-release along with a brand new album. John Parr Few musicians from England have made such a mark on America as John Parr has. He first found fame in America with the song he is probably best known for, "St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)", the popular 80s tune that he wrote and performed for the iconic film of the same name. Around that same time, he had another hit song that climbed the charts, called "Naughty, Naughty." As a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, he has enjoyed a long and successful career, selling more than 10 million albums and working with a variety of top names including Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Meatloaf, Journey and The Beach Boys.
