Feels Like Home - Barrelhouse - New Release Review

I just received the new release, Feels Like Home from Barrelhouse. The release opens with the title track, Feels Like Going Home, a finger picked blues style number with vocal harmonies. You Never Listen, played on Dobro in C Minor6 tuning has a quick pace and finger picking and slide work accompanying Burke on vocal. The Cadillac tells a cool little story in the style of the Appalachians but with a delta twist again using vocal harmonies. Day At The Beach has a very rudimentary style and one of the best tracks on the release. Bridge To Cross has some intricate picking in the style of Kottke. Eventually You'll Jump is a faster paced number with Burke's fingers pushing the pace. Nowhere In Sight keeps a solid middle ground in rural acoustic music. The instrumental Maine In October, has a very light and breezy feel to it played much in the upper octave of the guitar. Business As Usual is an acoustic boogie with vocal harmonies. A pretty cool track. The Only One is a well composed track with a bit of commercial hook. and vocal harmonies. Sloppy is a fast paced slide number and Barrelhouse keeps that bass rhythm going under the track as he sings. This is a quiet acoustic rural country/blues recording with lots of finger picking. Sit back and enjoy! If you support live Blues acts, up and coming Blues talents and want to learn more about Blues news and Fathers of the Blues, Like ---Bman’s Blues Report--- Facebook Page!
