Little Johnny Christian

b. 19 August c.30s, Mississippi, USA, d. c.1993. Christian sang in a church choir as a youngster, and continued singing gospel music after moving to Chicago in 1951, working and recording with the Highway QCs from 1957-61. In the 60s he worked as a bass player with Otis Rush, Elmore James and others, before joining Jimmy Dawkins as bass player and singer. He formed his own band in the 70s working exclusively as a singer, and recorded several singles in the 80s. Renowned for his soulful vocals, Christian made his debut album for the Chicago-based Big Boy label at the end of the decade.
